Step into the past and embark on an exploration of the architectural marvels of Katong-Joo Chiat. Join us for a captivating journey through the area's rich history, unique culture, and iconic landmarks. Hear from our HAN Heritage Champions as they share fascinating stories behind historic architectural gems, including the Peranakan shophouses along Koon Seng Road, the Red House Bakery, and the Former Joo Chiat Police Station.

Important Notes for Participants:

Kindly note that no refund or exchange of tickets is allowed under any circumstance except for programme cancellation. Participants are encouraged to arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of the programme. The programme will begin on time. The tour will proceed in the event of wet weather, and all participants are advised to bring an umbrella/raincoat. The tour may, however, be cancelled due to inclement weather (e.g. hazardous haze conditions, flooding etc.) or due to other unforeseen circumstances affecting the tour (e.g. road closures etc.), and participants will be informed.

 

The duration of the walking tour is about 1.5 hours. Participants are recommended to wear comfortable walking shoes, light clothes suitable for the weather, as well as to bring along a bottle of water, an umbrella and their own earphones.

 

Parents/guardians must accompany any child under the age of 12, and must buy their own ticket if so.

 

By registering for this programme, participants agree:

a) that the personal information supplied will be strictly used for the purposes stated above;

b) that NHB and the programme organiser may take photographs and/or videos of them (or their child as applicable) and use the images and/or videos including to archive, exhibit and publish them for publicity or any other NHB purposes; and

c) for NHB to contact them regarding the programme that they have signed up for, as well as other communication that may be of interest to them.

Heritage Activation Nodes
The Heritage Activation Node at Katong-Joo Chiat is a collaborative effort between the National Heritage Board and the People’s Association through Katong Culture, an interest group of the Joo Chiat Community Club Management Committee. Located in the culturally diverse neighbourhood of Katong-Joo Chiat, this node will offer a variety of experiences including street festivals, guided tours, talks and other programmes designed to delve into and celebrate the rich heritage of the area. Join us on this journey to discover the area’s multicultural heritage, diverse culinary offerings, and unique pre-war architecture, and deepen your appreciation of this vibrant neighbourhood!
